Saturday is all scheduled out, with an opening, keynote, talks, food trucks, talks, a closing keynote, and an informal post-gathering at a nearby Mexican restaurant.
For Sunday? None of that! We’re going participant-driven un-conference. Rooms and times are claimed by anyone who wants to speak, or as a twist, requests for topics can be posted, and a speaker can step forward to claim it.
How will people claim rooms and times? First come, first serve. Surf on over to the schedule page, scroll past Saturday to see all the Question Marks, and comment on the Google Doc. We’ll probably update it once an evening, until the 100th spam and troll comment comes in and we come up with a better system. (note: 206 is the larger room upstairs). Watch #techphx and we’ll announce talks.
How will people request talks? Surf on over to the schedule page, scroll past Saturday, and leave a comment in one of the spots saying “I want to hear about xyz”.
And then? Your best bet after that is to tweet #techphx and let people know about the talk you want to give, or the topic you want to hear about. If people express interest in your talk, great; if you don’t hear from anyone, feel free to change up your title and try again.
Is this going to work? That is up to you- the attendees as well as the speakers. The spirit of this un-conference is everyone is an ‘expert’, everyone has something to share. We learn from each other, and this is your opportunity to bring it. So Sunday, come for the chaos, stay for the chance to chat with like minded individuals who have shown up for the same talk.
Lunch? The cafeteria is open on the first floor, a few places within walking distance, or you can schedule your talk to happen during lunch and bring a sack lunch with you. We will also have some breakfast-y items for you first thing in the morning.
